Screed

Screed mix ratio for a floor

A bonded floor screed is a rich 1 : 3 cement : sharp-sand mix laid 25–40 mm thick and bonded to the base slab.

Recommended mix

1 : 3cement : sharp sand

Bonded floor screed — about 3,625 psi (25 MPa).

Planning reference. Typical proportions and strength for general work, not a structural mix design. Load-bearing and structural work must follow your local building code and a qualified engineer's specification.

Why this mix

A rich 1:3 sand–cement screed used at 25–40 mm where it is bonded to the base slab. A semi-dry mix, compacted and trowelled level.

Once you know the mix, the volume calculators tell you how much of it to buy — cubic yards, cubic metres and the bag count in every size.
